The Flight Deck is in continual development. As we receive ideas and feedback from bird companions and experts in the field we will modify the Deck to provide the best possible experience for your bird.
Three Flight Deck Models The HOME page features both Static and Dynamic models. All sizes are approximate.
The Dynamic model allows for a range of horizontal motion and vertical motion (depending on the pressure your bird is able to exert on the dowel extensions). On this model the dowels extend through the frame and beyond. The protruding dowels allows for multi-directional movement. Putting pressure on the end of the dowel creates leverage and will cause the flight deck to move vertically. It, hopefully, gives your bird somewhat of the feeling they would have on a moving branch.
Decks are 55" long. Small and Medium Decks are 16" wide. Large Decks are 24" wide.
The Static model allows for horizontal motion, but no vertical motion - it can be made to swing but will not tilt. On this model the dowels are encased within the frame and do not extend beyond. Decks are 55" long. The width for Small and Medium is 10", Large is 14".
The Macaw model is designed for the body structure and tail length of Macaws, see photo below.

Small: Parakeets, Lovebirds, Cockatiels and similarly sized birds. The Flight Deck is 55" long. The frame is 1 1/4" thick Poplar hardwood with Birch dowels in sizes 5/16", 1/2", and 5/8". Dowels are spaced approximately 4" apart. Stainless steel chain is 3'. 10 stainless steel links for attaching items to Deck. Weight is approximately 15 lbs.
Medium: Conures, Quakers, Ringnecks and similarly sized birds. The Flight Deck is 55" long. The frame is 1 1/4" thick Poplar hardwood with Birch dowels in sizes 3/4", 7/8" and 1". Dowels are spaced approximately 7" apart. Stainless steel chain is 3'. 10 stainless steel links for attaching items to Deck. Weight is approximately 15 lbs. Large: African Grey, Amazon, Cockatoo and similarly sized birds. The Flight Deck is 55" long. The frame is 2" thick Birch hardwood with Birch dowels in sizes 7/8", 1" and 1 1/2". Dowels are spaced approximately 8" apart. Stainless steel chain is 3'. 10 stainless steel links for attaching items to Deck. Weight is approximately 25 lbs. Macaws: Flight Deck is 55" long and 2' wide. The frame is 3 1/2" thick Birch hardwood with 1 3/4" and 2" Birch dowels. Dowels are alternately spaced. 10 stainless steel links for attaching items to Deck. Chain length is 3'. Weight is approximately 25 lbs.

Disposable Plastic Tablecovers:
When our birds, Skylar and Skittles, are having an extraordinary amount of fun on their Flight Deck, there is usually an extraordinary mess on the floor beneath. For easy floor cleanup we use disposable plastic tablecloth sheeting, (available in 40” x 100’ rolls and 40" x 300' in several colors and clear). We cut the length needed and place it under the Flight Deck. When necessary, it is easily folded up, discarded and replaced. The following link demonstrates the variety of colors available.
